flixya.gifOne thing you may soon notice if you become a regular reader of this site is that I use Flixya for most of the videos I link out to.

Why?

Simple. Flixya lets you make money simply by sharing videos. No, you don’t have to create them yourself - you don’t even have to upload them yourself. All you have to do is take a couple of quick steps to point to the video on YouTube, Revver, Metacafe, Break, and so on. Flixya then embeds the video into a new page on their site.

So how do you make money?

First you have to have a Google Adsense account. Then you input your Google account information into Flixya.

Then on all of the videos and photos you upload or embed on Flixya, the Google ads displayed on those pages will contain your Adsense code. Yup - that’s right - you earn all the money from the ads on your pages.

Now granted, people have to click on ads for you to make money, but given enough traffic, some people will click on those ads. And besides, once you get the hang of it, it only takes about a minute to set up a video or photo.

Flixya offers some advice on driving traffic to your media pages, as well as ways to improve your revenue by tweaking Adsense, but they also warn against having friends click on your ads (that’s click fraud, and Google doesn’t like it).

Will it make you a ton of money? Probably not. But if you’re going to share videos and photos anyway, why not set up a way to monetize it?

Disclosure: Flixya does NOT have an affiliate program. I derive no economic benefit from referring you to Flixya. However, I have included my referral code in the affiliate links in this post. All that does is automatically add you as my friend on there when you register.

Scott, this is very cool. I just stumbled upon your site, because I was reading Stephen Rose’s blog about swisscash. I knew about metacafe paying for videos, but with a different business model. This is quite different and easier.

    Appreciate it!

Thanks for the comment, Anthony. Yeah — this is much easier than Metacafe or Revver.

I was explaining Flixya to my wife, and she said, “So my friend Terry, who sends out a link to some cool video once or twice a week to his mailing list of several thousand people… he could take an extra minute to set up the video on Flixya, and if people then clicked on any of the ads on that page when they watch the video, he’d make a little bit of money?” “Yup, exactly,” I said. “Cool! I’ll have to tell him about that.”

OK, on another not… I’m dying to know, since I just launched this site yesterday — and soft-launched it at that — how exactly did you find your way here from Stephen’s site? I went and checked it out (good blog, by the way, which I’ve bookmarked for further exploration), but didn’t see a link or anything to here.

I know Blog i360 (the platform this site runs on) is doing some cool stuff in the background regarding social bookmarking. I’m just trying to figure out exactly how I’m attracting brand new readers to the site in less than 24 hours with basically no effort on my part (how great is that?).

    Scott,

On one of my blogs I have written about the relationship:money and manure.
You are bang on… on track.
Also about ‘the more you give the more you get.’

    All the best.
