Well, folks, I was going to be on time with Carnival of the Capitalists, but unfortunately, it seems a large number of blogs have sprung up that are ripping off articles from EzineArticles and reposting them on blogs — stripping out the resource box and not giving proper credit. As if that weren’t bad enough, they’re then submitting them to blog carnivals.

More and more we’re seeing this trend in social media… revenue sharing with the social media and social networking content providers who are really the ones bringing eyeballs to these sites. The latest really cool addition to this that I’ve discovered is TheNewsRoom.

TheNewsRoom allows you to embed individual stories or a player featuring multiple stories, like the one below, on your site. Then they embed advertising within the player and you get a revenue share from it (more after the player).

A couple of days ago, I ripped on AuthorityBlackBook.com a bit. Dave Taylor took me to task over it, saying I was over-generalizing based on the one issue in that post. But there’s certainly more than one issue, so here’s part 2 of my critique.

And by the way, I’ll just go ahead and give a teaser that I actually have read the e-book now, and for the most part, it’s pretty good — certainly worth the free download and an hour to read it. I’ll do a review of it in part 3, but for now, I’m going to talk about the sign-up process a little more.

Someone will probably think this is sacrilegious (yes, that is actually how it’s spelled, not “sacreligious”) and take offense, but you know… if anyone has a sense of humor, it’s God, so…

I have a pet peeve. See, everyone is hopping on the Web 2.0 bandwagon these days, especially all the internet marketing gurus. Now, these guys (and a few gals) really know how to write good sales letters, compelling squeeze pages, and so on. And a lot of them have figured out how to make some pretty good money by leveraging blogs, MySpace, and so on.

But fairly often, they do something really bone-headed that shows that they still just don’t completely get it.

Next in series

I’ve done the math on GPT (Get Paid To) sites — get paid to read e-mails, get paid to take surveys, etc. — and if you do everything they send you, you’re probably only going to net about $8 an hour (but you can improve that).

Now, that beats the heck out of a minimum-wage job in a cubicle or a fast-food restaurant, and it doesn’t cost you a dime to participate and get started. Also, a lot of the work takes place a few seconds or a few minutes at a time. So if you’re home-bound and have a lot of distractions, it still works for you, whereas a traditional job and even a lot of work-at-home opportunities might not.

The secret, though, to making better money at these things is knowing how to watch for the better payout opportunities and taking advantage of them.

If you’ve visited a fair number of blogs before, as you poke around Revenue River you may notice the conspicuous absence of Google Ads, Blogads, and many of the other familiar advertising networks. You will, however, see ads.

Why have I chosen not to use those ad networks? And what’s different about the ads that are on here?
